There’s no doubt that Britain has its fair share of good actresses and so it was a difficult task to select the top 10 best British actresses of all time. When compiling our list, we considered a number of factors including acting ability, versatility, the number of films they’ve featured in, as well as awards and nominations.

Here are the ones that really stand out from the crowd.

10. Lena Headey

Lena Headey Best British Actresses Lena Headey, now 45, was born in Hamilton, Bermuda and has starred in several movies (300, 300: Rise of the Empire and The Purge to name a few). But she’s best known for her role as Cersei Lannister in the massive hit TV series, Games of Thrones.

Headey makes our list of best British actresses as she’s always delivered a confident performance in front of the camera, giving her the edge over many other British actresses.
