Guacamole is a classic Mexican dish, typically served as a dip alongside nachos and salsa sauce. 

Made with the avocado fruit, guacamole is considered a superfood, with several health benefits attached to it. 

This is a really simple recipe to follow (even those with limited culinary skills will be able to make this simple guacamole recipe). 

The key to making a great guacamole dip is to have perfectly ripe avocados. You can check how ripe an avocado is by placing your thumb over the avocado and gently pressing on it. If it makes an indentation without much force, it’ll be good to go. Take care though, an overly ripe avocado may be difficult to work with.

  • 3 ripe avocados

  • handful of parsley

  • 1 lime (juiced)

  • 1 clove of garlic (pressed)

  • salt and pepper


  • Start by cutting your avocados in half and removing the pips (don’t throw them away…see out top tip below). Scoop out the avocado and place into a mixing bowl. Add the lime juice.
  • With the back side of your fork, begin to press the mix together until you’ve made a paste consistency.
  • Dice the tomato, finely chop the parsley and add to the bowl . Press and add the garlic, lime juice and a pinch of salt and pepper and you’re done. Enjoy!

TIP: When exposed to air, guacamole can start to discolour. In order to keep your guacamole looking fresh and green, cover with cling film and place in the fridge (however, you should do so, so there is no air in the bowl – so really push the clingfilm down onto the mix so there isn’t a gap of air between the top of the mix and clingfilm. You can also place the discarded pips into the mix for extra freshness.
